PROJECT DETAILS:

Kemp Bros. Construction, Inc. has been shortlisted for the Design-Bid-Build LAUSD Palisades Charter Elementary School-Jan 2025 Fire Recovery  Project.

Marquez Charter Elementary School campus suffered fire damage which requires reconstruction that consists of demolition of existing improvements and construction of approximately 22 general, transitional kindergarten/kindergarten, and specialty classrooms with associated support spaces, administrative spaces, new multipurpose room, new library, new food services and lunch shelter, and new maintenance and operations spaces; various site demo and removal of 3 portable buildings with classrooms that will be replaced through permanent construction; and associated improvements for accessibility, greening requirements, landscape, hardscape, parking, and full infrastructure replacement including, but not limited to, sanitary sewer, water, stormwater, and electrical utilities.

  • Admin Building #1 – approximately 7,450 square feet 
  • Kinder Classroom Building #1 – approximately 8,440 square feet 
  • Multi-Purpose Room (MPR) Building #2 – approximately 8,025 square feet 
  • Food Service Building #2 and Maintenance and Operations (M&O) Building – 
  • approximately 4,765 square feet 
  • Library Building #3 – approximately 2,310 square feet 
  • Classroom Building #4 – approximately 4,690 square feet 
  • Classroom Building #5 – approximately 16,790 square feet 
  • 24 Stall at grade Parking Lot

Construction Duration: 858 Calendar Days

Liquidated Damages: $5,000 Per Calendar Day

Kemp Bros, Construction Inc. is signatory to the Carpenters Union. Subcontractors who utilize Carpenters must also be signatory to the Carpenters Union.

Subcontractors are required to review and acknowledge KBCI Subcontractor Agreement prior to bid.

SUBCONTRACT BOND REQUIREMENTS

KEMP BROS. CONSTRUCTION, INC. (KBCI) may require all subcontractors bidding on projects to provide payment and performance bonds in the amount of 100% of the subcontract value. KBCI will assist with the bond premium up to 1.5% of the original contract amount for the duration of the project. KBCI may waive the bond requirement at its sole discretion. The payment and performance bonds must be issued by an admitted surety within ten (10) business days of the receipt of the Subcontract Agreement from KBCI. KBCI shall be named the obligee and shall guarantee prompt and faithful performance of the subcontract scope of work and the payment of all claims for labor and materials furnished or used in and about the work to be done and performed under the subcontract agreement. When so requested, failure by the Subcontractor to provide the requested 100% payment and performance bonds within the time allowed may be reason for KBCI to request substitution of the Subcontractor in accordance with Section 4107 of the Public Contracting Code.
